In the classic Steve Davidowitz book, BETTING THOROUGHBREDS IN THE 21st CENTURY, a MUST read regardless of whether you're an expert handicapper or beginner, Davidowitz says:

"West Coast Handicapping Report (WCHR), put together with exceptional dedication by Rob Henie. His handicapping expertise is first-rate, but of equal import are the stats he provides that give insights into the daily Southern California racing scene. Probably the best daily report in California, since Ron Cox and Don Montillon's Northern California Track Record."

For the East Coast version, check out our sister report, the popular East Coast Handicapping Report (ECHR).

WINTER Santa Anita Debut Winners: There were a total of 27 debut winners and the WCHR had 20 of those 27 winners!   Double digit first timers in the report included $36.00. $13.20, $19.40, $12.00, $29.20,$22.00, $33.20, $19.20, $10.60, $25.60, and $14.80

SUPER FEED TRAINERS: These are guys who’ve mastered the labs, meaning, they know how to add to their feed buckets without a sign of negative drug results, masking, etc. There’s a reason why runners from these barns always seem to re-break at the top of the lane, “finding more” as west coast announcer Trevor Denman would say. Front runners from these barns are always so dangerous. By the way, ever wonder why the trainers atop the leaderboard right now are rarely seen on the big days with security cameras and a security guard outside the stall prior to the big day races? Funny how that works.

Spring Santa Anita Fair Value Wagers:

(Based on $20 Win Wagers)
Invested: 20

Return:    0

The Winter totals produced a $350 profit (invested 260, return of 610)

NEW CATEGORY - ‘GREEN FLAG RACE

Our latest category,  It’s called ‘GREEN FLAG RACE.’ This is a race in which we strongly believe the winner comes from our two selections. This can be a very useful category, especially for those using these races in the horizontal wagers. If we can isolate a race where the winner comes from only two entities, it can be valuable indeed!

Green Flag Race:  16

Green Flag Won:   10

Today’s Green Flag Race(s): None

Today’s Fair Value Plays:

($20 win wagers if runners must meet or exceed their Fair Value during the last five minutes of wagering)

WCHR Most Likely Winner of the Day

Race 4 - Going Somewhere

DEL MAR DIRT: An update, the new dirt looks amazing, wow. It’s a red colored dirt, similar to what the Hollywood Park soil used to look like prior to the tire pieces and carpet fibers. We’re ready for a huge Meet next month!

Closing Day from The Great Race Place!

FIRST RACE:  A 12,500 non winners of two lifetime event at a mile to kick off this final day of racing. Top selection in the opener is PEFIOLO (#1). Claimed by Marquez, this is a good spot, likely allowing from a ground saving trip while also gaining new confidence out on the front end. HE’S A REAL KEEPER (#8) has been freshened, and though not much, neither are any of the others. Expecting an effective late run, not a quick final ¼ but simply enough to warrant a look against runners going up and down.

Race Outlook: Really poor bunch.

Win Contenders: 1-8-3

X Out Runners (eliminating on the win end): 5,6

Positive Notes:

3  Trash Talkin - Working fantastic, stringing races together.

Negative Notes:

6  Wings of Mojave - Hard to back with nothing in recent tries off the long layoff.

TOP PICK: PEFIOLO (#1  3-1  Baze)

SECOND CHOICE: HE’S A REAL KEEPER (#8  10-1  Nicolas)
